Outstanding Graduate Student


Eligibility Requirements

Nominations for the Outstanding Master’s Student in Liberal Arts will be submitted by a graduate faculty member in Liberal Arts, in consultation with the nominee. Graduate faculty may nominate full-time or part-time graduate students, or students may self-nominate. To be eligible, nominees must have 

1. Completed at least 18 hours of graduate work at Texas State at the time of nomination, and 

2. Earned a minimum 3.75 Texas State GPA. 

Note: Students fulfilling this criteria who graduated the immediately preceding December or August are also eligible. 

Nominees must attach a transcript, a resumé, and any other relevant information such as publications, writing samples, research honors or awards, and letters of recommendations.

Each department will screen its applicants for eligibility and forward one nomination to the College of Liberal Arts Dean's Office, FH 313.

Nominations must be submitted to the major department for verification of eligibility by February 14th. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Chairs and Directors of degree granting programs in the College of Liberal Arts will review and rank the candidates. NOTE: The committee may recommend that no award be presented for the year. The award will be presented at the College of Liberal Arts Awards Day in April. Please check with your major department for this year’s date.
