Mentoring Program
The College of Liberal Arts mentoring program is designed to cultivate meaningful professional relationships between the College of Liberal Arts accomplished alumni and current students. It aims to connect students to alumni for professional development purposes and academic advice. Students can receive advice on internships, careers, business etiquette, networking, resumes, and interviewing from those already working in the field. In addition, they may receive advice and guidance on graduate school including help with applications, admission requirements, and letters of recommendation.
Alumni can serve as an objective sounding board for students’ ideas. They can share their own career paths and experiences which provide students with valuable insight and perspective.
Program Mission
This program serves as a bridge aimed at connecting Texas State University-College of Liberal Arts alumni and current students. It seeks to empower and engage students while preparing them for life after graduation by helping students develop a professional network.
How it Works
The program is open to all College of Liberal Arts majors and minors
- Participants must register online or in person at one of our events
- Students will be connected with a mentor who best matches their career interests and goals
- Once the connection is established, the mentor/mentee pair will agree on goals and communication preferences and will agree to connect throughout the semester
